This placement will provide you with a great opportunity to learn the many aspects of working with the lifestyle coordinator to help organise and engage in a variety of activities. You will be supervised by experienced staff and given the opportunity to perform a wide variety of tasks building on your skills that can be used to secure your knowledge in the community services and allied health industry. This placement may also suit a student doing a Music certificate with performance as the residents enjoy listening and engaging in music activities.

Working well as part of a team, communicating well with aging residents, understanding the requirements of aged care assistance, working safely in the industry policies & procedure in the allied health industry

Typical Tasks & Duties

Under the supervision of qualified staff students you will assist in the care of the residents helping with their daily activities. Students will have the opportunity to engage in the many activities organised by the lifestyle coordinator such as group exercise, bowling, table games, discussion groups, and much more! Some administration such as creating flyers, program planning and filing will be involved as well as some domestic duties such as delivering laundry as part of the day to day activity of caring for residents.

Student Requirements

All students will be required to undergo a police check prior to placement. Punctuality and an ability to communicate and relate well to an ageing and diverse group of residents is a must.

Dress Requirements

Closed toed shoes, neat casual.

Special Transport Requirements

This placement will require own transport/ drop off and pick up to the site as it is not near public transport
