Fantastic opportunity to undertake Structured Workplace Learning at an independently owned, local optometrist, working closely with a small, energetic team of friendly people. Providing you with exposure to a variety of roles at the business including reception, retail, optical dispensing and optometry. This opportunity is ideally suited to Allied Health students.

Skills You Might Learn

Students will extend their knowledge of the health industry, gain a greater understanding of the variety of tasks at a small optometry business, learn about Occupational Health and Safety protocols, utilise their customer service abilities and work in a team environment..

Typical Tasks & Duties

During this placement students will: assist with appointments at reception, provide retail assistance to clients for spectacles and sunglasses and learn about stock management. Observe and assist the practice manager and staff; at the discretion of the optometrist and patient, the student may sit in with and observe eye testing and optometry consultations.
