Sunnyside Lutheran Retirement Village is owned and operated by the Victorian District of the Lutheran Church of Australia and has been in existence for 64 years providing residential care for the older residents of the Horsham and surrounding districts. We offer a 75 bed residential aged care facility, 66 independent living units, 13 State Housing rental units for the disadvantaged and a multipurpose community building. Sunnyside Lutheran Retirement Village is recognised as a leading Aged Care provider within the region.
Sunnyside Lutheran Retirement Home has a position available for a student interested in the hospitality area of their aged care facility. Preparing and serving meals for the residents on a daily basis is all part of the package. If you have a desire to assist in food preparation and serving of meals then this could be the placement opportunity for you.
This position is suited to a Kitchen Operations student, VET Health student or a VCAL student who has some experience with food preparation.

Typical Tasks & Duties
The successful student will be able to have a discussion with the placement coordinator around what area of hospitality jumps out at you. Some of the typical tasks and duties will include a range of the following.
- Food preparation
- Assisting in menu planning
- Assisting in stock and produce ordering
- Serving meals to residents
- Clearing of plates and utensils
- Following safe hygiene practices
- Ensuring all work spaces are correctly cleaned and sanitised
The successful student will be required to contact the placement coordinator and discuss time and day availability that suit both school timetabling and employer requirements. You will need to have a positive can do attitude, be willing to learn, be friendly and approachable to the staff and residents of Sunnyside and have great a great work ethic.
If you are unable to attend a placement day you must phone the host employer to notify them. You must also notify your school.Student MUST obtain a volunteer police check and this can be discussed with the employer during the pre-placement meeting.
Well groomed and neat tidy attire, closed shoes. Comfortable closed toe work shoes are advised. Long hair should be tied up and clothing must be modest. Clothing should be black. No jeans, fingernail polish, jewellery or long sleeve shirts. No stones or diamantes in reading glasses. Gloves and apron will be supplied.
