A great opportunity is available with a local owned and family operated plumbing business with over 55 years’ experience in the Plumbing industry. Robinson Plumbing specialise in large and small Residential, Commercial and Industrial communities and deliver quality services across a broad range of plumbing. Robinson Plumbing staff are qualified professionals experienced in general plumbing, waste management and waste water treatment, water filtration, steel pipe fabrication, poly welding, roofing and gladding, fire services, gas fitting, backflow protection, thermostatic mixing valves, concrete cutting and core drilling, trenching services, with a 24-hour 7 day a week emergency service.

Students undertaking a SWL placement with Robinson Plumbing will experience valuable on the job learning to increase their skills in-line with their VDSS program in Plumbing.

Typical Tasks & Duties

All aspects of the plumbing industry are delivered by Robinson Plumbing. Students will be provided opportunities to gain valuable knowledge in the below listed tasks in-line with their skills and abilities and OH&S requirements:

Tasks and duties will include but not limited to.
The student may undertake but are not limited to the following tasks and duties;
• Carry out interactive workplace communication.
• Carry out WHS requirements.
• Prepare work equipment and job supplies for each workday.
• Read plans and calculate plumbing quantities.
• Handle and store plumbing materials.
• Use plumbing hand and power tools.
• Carry out levelling.
• Mark out materials.
• Assist with laying and or repairing drainage.
• Assist with Digging holes.
• Assist with Gas fitting.
• Assist with Clogged drains.
• Assist with Laying pipe.
• Assist with Repairing leaks.
• Perform manual handling duties as instructed.
• Assist with maintaining a clean and tidy work environment.
• Pack down of work equipment and job supplies after work each day.

Student Requirements

Prior to the interview with the host employer, students are required to review the businesses web page and learn some background information on the organisation and what it is they do.

Whilst the students are attending a work placement they are expected to:
Dress appropriately
Maintain interest and participate in work duties
Be well mannered and behave in a respectful and responsible manner
Be punctual
Follow management instructions
Act in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements
Work within the team
Listen and take advice from fellow workers
Participate in business activities as required
Respect other people’s belongings
Keep a note pad and pen handy to take notes for their own reference
Demonstrate the skills they have developed through their course
Take their Log Book to the work placement every day

Carry a Victorian Construction Induction Card (White Card), please note: obtaining the White Card is required prior to attending the work placement.

Dress Requirements

The student will be required to present at work in the following work attire;
• Work pants or work shorts.
• Hi visual shirt, long sleeve.
• Steel capped work boots.
• Wide brim hat.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the tasks and duties carried out by the student, will be supplied by the Host Employer.

Special Transport Requirements

Public Transport is limited, students to check bus transport availability and or speak to parents/carer to organise transport prior to contacting employer.
