A great opportunity is available at JD Construction to work alongside licensed builder Josh Dawson and his young enthusiastic team.
JD Construction have over ten years experience in the building and construction industry working on a large variety of both commercial and domestic projects. This placement would be well suited to students completing the certificate II in Building and Construction and wanting to complete a placement to gain valuable on the job skills in the industry.
Skills You Might Learn
Industry specific skills may include measurement and calculations, storing and handling assorted materials, using a variety of tools and equipment to meet specific task requirements. Transferrable skills include communication, time management, following instruction, using technology, problem solving, demonstrating initiative, etc.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Successful applicants will start off with the basics, gaining a solid understanding of Workplace Health and Safety, Risk Management, Equipment Maintenance, etc. As their skills and competencies develop, they will be given the opportunity to participate in more complex tasks, with greater responsibility. These tasks will vary depending on the workplace activities at the time.
Student Requirements
Whilst the students are attending a work placement they are expected to: Dress appropriately. Maintain interest and participate in work duties. Be well mannered and behave in a respectful and responsible manner. Be punctual. Follow management instructions. Act in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements. An OH&S safety “White Card” is required before commencing placement within the team. Listen and take advice from fellow workers. Participate in business activities as required. Respect other people’s belongings. Keep a note pad and pen handy to take notes for their own reference. Demonstrate the skills they have developed through their course. Take their Log Book to the work placement every day.

Steel capped work boots.
Work pants
Hi Vis work shirt.
Special Transport Requirements
Public transport is limited. Students are advised to make their own transport arrangement.
