Skills You Might Learn

Students will gain valuable experience in the industry and be exposed to specialized tasks such as waterjet cutting and procedures. Gain basic drawing software knowledge and knowledge of different materials that can be cut. Other skills that students will have the chance to build include teamwork, following project designs and developing organisation and time management strategies.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will have the opportunity to observe and follow a qualified trades-person. The student will learn how to maintain the waterjet cutter by learning how to clean, load and unload the machine. Depending on the ability of the student they could learn how to use the waterjet cutter and load the software information for orders into the machine. The students will be required to keep the work place clean and tidy and apply safe work practices. Students must have an eye for detail, be motivated, keen and interested.

Students should ensure that they wear Black or dark clothing - Tee-shirt, polo shirt, pants and/or jeans. Students should also wear enclosed steel-capped work boots.

This location is best reached by bus or car. There are bus stop along Mountain Highway and Jersery Road and then a small walk to Industry Place.
