The Vic's Executive Chef, Carl Middleton, has worked as a head chef at some of the largest and most exclusive hotel chains around the world, including The Hilton. He brings his expertise and passion for locally grown produce to The Vic at Woodend. The Vic incorporates a bar and bistro, take away drive through wood-fired pizza operation and an upstairs function room.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will get to put their kitchen skills to the test by undertaking tasks such as general food preparation, baking and cooking.

Students will need to have completed Safe@Work before they commence this SWL opportunity.

Students must also have thorough knowledge of food hygiene processes. As your skills develop, you will take on more cooking tasks.

Student Requirements

Students must be undertaking VET hospitality and have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in cooking.
Students should be punctual, able to communicate well with other employees and show genuine enthusiasm to learn the craft of cooking.

Dress Requirements

If students have a chef's uniform, they can wear this. If not, a black t-shirt, apron and pants plus closed-in shoes is acceptable.

Special Transport Requirements

Students can access this placement which is a 5 minute walk from the train station.
