Ararat is a large regional centre north-west of Melbourne in the heart of Victoria. Strategically located at an important junction of several major highways, the city is a logical stopping off point for tourists exploring the nearby Grampians Ranges and Grampians Pyrenees wine regions.
The region is renowned for tourism, the production of world-class wines, agriculture and manufacturing, which collectively fire a buoyant regional economy. At Ararat Rural City Council students will be able to complete SWL placements that engage them in a wide variety of industry areas.

Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will be responsible for the following tasks;
- Assisting Ararat Rural City Council trained staff with related administrative and customer service activities
- Engaging with customers as advised by Ararat Rural City Council trained staff
- Completing all related tasks as assigned by Ararat Rural City Council trained staff
Student Requirements
The following requirements must be met;
- Students are required to have a keen interest in administration, community services or tourism
- Students must be able to spend extended periods on their feet
- Students must have a willingness to learn and be able to follow instructions
- Students must be willing to communicate clearly and work with a team
- Students must be completing a related subject or have displayed an interest in the area
Dress Requirements
Students undertaking a Customer Services Assistant placement with Ararat Art Gallery / Ararat Town Hall will be required to wear neat casual clothing as appropriate for an office space.
Special Transport Requirements
The student will be required to arrange their own transport; if transport is presenting a problem please contact CGLLEN to discuss available options and support that can be provided.
