Skills You Might Learn

Students will gain skills related to their Electrotechnology certificate. Students will also gain experience on a variety of sites, which will diversify their skills giving them greater employment opportunities after their placement. Students will also gain other valuable skills such as team work, problem solving, communication with team members and clients, as well as, time and task management.

Typical Tasks & Duties

The student who is placed with MBE Electrical would be paired up with an expert and proficient Electrician, working on different sites. The Electrician would be teaching, modelling and working along the student, enabling them to attempt and complete a range of tasks. The student would assist in light and power wiring, installing downlights, screwing power boards and cover plates back on and much more. As the student increases in skill the range of tasks will broaden, where the student would be challenged and exposed to more technical electrical jobs. It would be expected that the student assist with setting up for the day and then packing up at the end of the day.

Student Requirements

Students are required to be studying a certificate in Electrotechnology. You will need to have obtained your white card and completed your OH & S units. Students should also be willing to learn and work hard when on- site.

Dress Requirements

Students are required to have their own steel capped work boots, work pants and grey top. Any tools the student may have, such as pliers and screwdriver would be a bonus but not essential.

Special Transport Requirements

Students are required to make their own way to and from the business factory.
