Skills You Might Learn

Students will obtain the following skills;
align parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
join metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting
examine welds for width of bead, penetration and precision
finish products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions
clean and smooth welds by filing, chiselling and grinding

Typical Tasks & Duties

Typical tasks and duties include, but are not limited to;
Students will be observing and gaining awareness in -
packaging and bagging equipment
Grading and handling
Palletizing
Orchard equipment
Consumables - including labelling and distribution
fastening components together using tack welding, bolting and riveting
utilizing material handling, rigging, hoisting and lifting equipment to move completed assemblies safely

Student must demonstrate interest in Engineering/Fabrication to consume this opportunity

No mobile phones are to be used in the workplace other than at designated break times or when authorised by management.

It is a requirement that the student visit the factory prior to commencement to undertake their induction and receive instructions.

Dress Requirements

Students must wear appropriate clothing. Covered shoes, trousers, and jumpers – overalls and/or appropriate factory work attire is required. Protective glasses, hearing protection and gloves are supplied.

Special Transport Requirements

Placement is in Mooroopna. It is a short walk from main street, and about a 10 minute walk from Mooroopna Secondary College
