Aged care assistant

This placement is with the Adult Day Services Program at Swan Hill District Health. Students will assist with the community based program. The opportunity allows a variety of experiences while assisting in the Neighbourhood House or Men's shed for example. Staff are very friendly and helpful while management is very positive about the SWL program in general. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic young person to engage with the elderly in a range of settings.

Skills You Might Learn
Students will gain some hands-on practical experience while assisting staff with the participants. The students will be working in real-life scenarios in a real life environment so communication skills will be important.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will work with program staff to assist them in their duties in relation to the community based program. Students will be required to be an active participant in all workplace practises while being closely supervised by staff.
Student Requirements
The students must have completed the OH&S module in WRS VCAL or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.
Dress Requirements
Students are to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the work place. Low cut tops or short skirts are not suitable. Runners and sports uniforms are acceptable.
Special Transport Requirements
Students may need to organise their own transport to work but there is a town bus service.
