This Placement is with an experienced local builder with over 15 years experience. Jason is supportive of students doing SWL and will offer a valuable opportunity for students to gain skills and experience on a wide range of building projects. Jason also balances his building profession with running the family farm in Henty.
Skills You Might Learn
Students will, while under supervision, be learning the use of hand tools related to basic carpentry. They will learn to be part of the team while observing and using OH&S procedures followed on the work site.
Typical Tasks & Duties
This position will include activities around assisting the builder in his work and may specifically include cleaning up the site, using carpentry hand tools and performing basic carpentry tasks. There may also be duties around demolition and the position may also lend itself to a vast variety of tasks including plastering, painting, tiling etc.
Student Requirements
Students must have a keen interest in the building industry and be willing and fit to work in a variety of weather conditions. Also need to show honesty and commitment.
Must provide log book to the employer to ensure there is a clear direction of tasks that student is capable of.
Dress Requirements
Industrial workwear including safety boots.
Consideration to weather conditions ie wet weather wear, hat, sunglasses etc
Special Transport Requirements
opportunity is based in Henty, although some travel may be assisted depending on job sites.
Travel to job sites required therefore a Travel Arrangement Form will be required.
