Skills You Might Learn

Students who complete an SWL placement at Big W will gain great insight into the retail industry including how to manage stock and products and provide exceptional customer service. They will also gain a number of transferable employability skills including the importance of punctuality, working as part of a committed team, customer service, how to manage complaints, how to behave at work and communicate in a retail environment. They will also learn about the importance of attention to detail and how to complete tasks in a timely and professional manner.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students completing an SWL placement at Big W will learn about the retail industry, how to process apparel and provide quality customer service. They will learn about systems ordering process, and other tasks, depending on their enthusiasm and aptitude for the industry.

Student Requirements

Students need to be well presented and well spoken, enthusiastic and good with customers. Students will need to enjoy being in a retail environment and take pride in themselves and their work. They need to be friendly and be physically fit to be on their feet for the day.

Dress Requirements

Black or dark navy blue shirt.
Black pants.
Black dress shoes.

Special Transport Requirements

Public transport is limited. Students are advised to make their own transport arrangement.
