The Blue Dog Cafe
This opportunity will suit a student interested in learning about front and backhouse of a cafe. The Owner is a qualified Chef and Pastry Chef who serves a range of food from breakfast to dinner. It is a small but busy cafe with lots of different tasks to complete so there will be plenty of variation. The owner will create lots of learning opportunities, including a focus on developing barista skills for a motivated and interested student.
Skills You Might Learn
Students will learn about customer service, team work in a kitchen, food safety and hygiene, how to operate point of sales, food prep and barista skills.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Typical tasks will include loads of varying food prep, clearing tables, cleaning and assisting with serving customers. Depending on the aptitude and enthusiasm of the student, the owner will teach them how to use the cash register and learn how to make a wide variety of coffees and chai teas - so a keen student will develop excellent barista skills.
Students must be interested in food. They must have excellent presentation, be well groomed and friendly. Students must have a "can do"attitude as the Cafe can get quite busy.
Flat and comfortable shoes, long hair to be tied back.
Special Transport Requirements
The Cafe is on Park Road and there is a bus route available. Bus 271 stops outside, it services Ringwood, Blackburn and Box Hill Rail stations.
