Skills You Might Learn
In alignment with Business Admin training, students will have the opportunity to develop their customer service, attention to detail, time management, marketing and technology skills. Hospitality students will have the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of safe food practices, especially in artisan and ingredient sensitive environments. They will also be exposed to product packaging, the importance of expiry dates and shelf-life.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Student Tasks / Duties There are two roles available, for students to undertake SWL in this organisation. One role is office based, assisting with contact and mailing lists, updated the website, supporting media / marketing programs, responding to email enquiries as well as packing and distribution for sale through markets and retail outlets. The other role is in the kitchen itself, following strict workplace health and safety policies to ensure the environment remains free of possible contaminants, following food handling processes, supporting the production of current recipes along with the possible development of new products.
Students are more than welcome to express interest in one role or the other, however can be provided with the opportunity to alternate between the two in need.
In order to maintain the sterile environment, the employer is happy to provide suitable lunch to placement students (please advise of any dietary requirements). This placement is best suited to VCAL students undertaking Business or Hospitality VET.
For “office” placement days, the employer is happy for the student to dress comfortably. For “kitchen” placement days, student is to wear clean, long pants and t-shirt. Shoes and apron will be provided by employer. To be discussed further at interview.
Special Transport Requirements
Venue is very close to bus access, which also links to local train stations.
Travel Form will not be required for this placement.
