Supporting older Victorians and their families since 1969 Southern Cross Care offers a range of high quality support services and programs that aim to enrich people's lives. This placement will provide you with a great opportunity to learn the many aspects of working with the lifestyle coordinator to help organise and engage in a variety of activities. You will be supervised by experienced staff and given the opportunity to perform a wide variety of tasks building on your skills that can be used to secure your knowledge in the community services and allied health industry.

Skills You Might Learn

Working well as part of a team, ability to communicate well with people of all different abilities and backgrounds, understanding the requirements of aged care assistance works. Work safely in the industry. Policy & procedure in the allied health industry.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Under the supervision of qualified staff students will assist in the care of the residents assisting with their daily activities which may include working with the physiotherapist and allied health professionals. Students will have the opportunity to engage in the many activities organised by the lifestyle coordinator such as group exercise, music, bingo, newspaper reading/discussions, special event days such as fathers day, and much more!

Student Requirements

Punctuality and an ability to relate well to the aging community is a must.

Dress Requirements

Neat casual, closed toes, no singlets.

This opportunity is not easily accessible by public transport
