Wantirna Hill Club

Do you want to learn from a great team of chefs in a busy kitchen? A large, popular bistro/club in Wantirna is offering outstanding SWL opportunities for Kitchen Operations students. These work placements, working alongside the head chef and cooking team, will provide students with a broad and deep set of learning experiences.

Skills You Might Learn

Under the mentoring of a highly trained and experienced head chef who believes in providing a genuine training experience for young people, these SWL placements will allow students to further develop:
- Knife skills
- Knowledge of food and produce ordering
- Food storage practises
- Food preparation
- Health and safety procedures
- Teamwork
- Working to tight deadlines

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the running of a large, busy commercial kitchen. Learning experiences will include involvement in the buying of food and produce, the safe and correct storage of food, food preparation, cooking a range of meals and following food safety procedures.

Dress Requirements

Employer can provide some chef's clothing if needed, however students should bring their own chef uniform if possible. Students should wear smart black pants and closed-toe shoes.
