2020 Opportunity!!

Great opportunity to work in a busy retail chemist that provides a variety of products and personal services. You will be supervised by experienced staff and given the opportunity to work across the different departments within the store. A great way to build on our customer service skills and gain an insight into the retail cosmetics industry, including Estee Lauder in which James Dean Pharmacy are an official stockist.

Skills You Might Learn

Students will learn to communicate in the work place, interacting with customers, demonstrating and selling makeup and retail skin care products and performing routine pharmacy sales. The student will learn how to conduct financial transactions, organise and maintain the work area and merchandise and display products tailored to suit current marketing trends .

Typical Tasks & Duties

During your placement, you may undertake the following: - Replenish point of sale areas ie: bags, register rolls, stationery. - Dust shelving, fixtures and stock. - Assist with packaging of purchased items. - Refill floor stock, move stock forward, size merchandise. - Liaise with other staff and customers - Learn the functions of a retail business - Answer phones, operate computer - Re-order stock - Operate retail technology - POS, pricing equipment, scanners, EFTPOS. - Learn retail procedures for EFTPOS, laybys, gift vouchers, refunds. - Develop rapport with customers and provide customer service.
As the placement progresses you will be exposed to makeup and skin care knowledge and then basic applications.

Student Requirements

Students wanting an opportunity in this work environment need to enjoy working with people, have a helpful and courteous manner, neat personal appearance, good communications skills, ability to deal accurately with money, good problem solving skills and be willing to work as part of a team.

Dress Requirements

Black skirt/pants/shirt. Comfortable closed toe footwear.

Special Transport Requirements

No transport arrangements will be required. James Dean Pharmacy is located in CBD therefore public transport is available.
