A fantastic SWL opportunity for students wanting to experience the many facets of engineering, welding and fabrication working with qualified and experienced engineers. Students interested in construction management, project management, structural engineering or architecture are encouraged to apply. There is the potential for suitable and interested young people to progress to an ongoing role or apprenticeship.
Skills You Might Learn
Students will gain valuable experience in the Engineering Industry and have the opportunity to build on skills including teamwork, communication, initiative, knowledge of tools and equipment, problem solving, organisational and time management strategies.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will gain valuable experience in the office with the qualified engineers as well as in the factory floor. They will be involved in general maintenance and repairs including welding, reading drawings, measure and fabricate components. Other tasks will include assisting in workshop clean up and maintaining a safe working environment.
The student will be motivated, show initiative and be developing an ability to work independently. Punctuality is important. See Dress Requirements for further information.
Students should ensure that they wear steel-capped work boots and work gear including long sleeved shirt.
