Specialising in aluminum fabrication for the aviation industry, this Engineering company has been manufacturing access platforms, ladder platforms and workstands for over 25 years. This terrific SWL opportunity is suited to Engineering students. Through this employer you will learn about aluminum fabrication of small step stands through to full Aircraft body docking /staging. There may also be the potential for suitable and interested young people to progress to an apprenticeship or ongoing role at the completion of the SWL.
Skills You Might Learn
Students will gain valuable experience in the industry and be exposed to specialised tasks such as the manufacturing of access platforms, ladder platforms and workstands. Other skills that students can enhance include teamwork, following project designs and developing organisation and time management strategies.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will be buddied up with experienced tradespeople to observe and may assist under supervision as aluminum fabrication is undertaken, including welding and cutting. Other tasks will include assisting in workshop clean up and maintaining a safe working environment.
Student Requirements
No Friday Placements. Punctuality is important. See Dress Requirements for further information.
Dress Requirements
Students should ensure that they wear steel-capped work boots and work gear.
