.***A great Horticulture SWL opportunity is now available *** This Nursery is a family run wholesale Nursery that has been in the business for nearly 100 years and is a diverse horticultural organisation with four major production nurseries. Growing quality trees and shrubs is the core and foundation of this family enterprise. During this time they have been able to grow and move forward continuing to develop their relationship with the retail trade, councils, landscapers and advanced growers, by listening and meeting the needs of their clients and by researching and producing many new plants.

Skills You Might Learn

Students will gain insight into the horticultural industry which will include recognition and identification of different plant types, understanding the different types of soil, get an understanding of the wholesale plant production processes, develop the knowledge and skills they have gained in their VET course. Students will participate in OHS processes and environmentally sustainable work practices.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students tasks may include potting, propagation, grafting, plant maintenance including pruning weeding and general tree care. Maintaining plant health and growing conditions including watering, cleaning, pest identification and other associated duties. Students will have an opportunity to work in 3 different areas within the nursery.

Dress Requirements

Students to wear work clothes and work boots suitable for all weather conditions. Hats to be worn in summer as this work place is a sun smart work place.
