This is an exciting SWL opportunity ideally suited to students undertaking a Certificate in Horticulture wanting to learn and experience the horticultural industry.
This family owned, 8 acre property plant farm in Emerald grow and sell an extensive range of trees and shrubs for both trade and retail markets. Their stock includes; Japanese Maples, Ornamental Pear varieties, Weeping Cherries, Silver Birch varieties, Fruit trees, Grasses and Flaxes, Climbers, Groundcovers, Succulents, Herbs and Seedlings and Potted colour to name a few.

Skills You Might Learn

Students will gain valuable experience in the industry which may include improved recognition and identification of different plant genus and species types, determination of different types of soil/growing media. Students will participate in OHS processes and environmentally sustainable work practices.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students tasks may include propagation and potting up of plants, plant maintenance of potted stock including watering, weeding and general care. Preparation of potting media, stock sorting and movement, potting on and general plant maintenance and nursery duties.

Dress Requirements

Students should ensure they wear boots and suitable work clothing for outdoor work in a nursery.

Public transport is limited. Closest bus stop is near Woolworths Emerald, this location is best reached by car.
