Admin assistant

Experience Education from the other side of the desk. As an Admin Support officer, your role will be to assist with office / reception activities under the direction of the school staff. In this school, the Primary campus of a P-12 College, you will gain experience with a wide range of ages, abilities, socio-economic situations, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. This is a fantastic opportunity to get an understanding of how a school operates "behind the scenes", while considering your future pathways options.

Skills You Might Learn

Depending on the VET course currently being undertaken, students may develop skills such as working with diverse people, promoting cultural safety, comply with school administration requirements, participate in workplace health and safety, organising and completing daily workplace activities, using business technology, designing and producing business documents, etc.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Typical workplace tasks include preparing and distributing documents (minutes, newsletters, notices and forms), reception duties (front desk, phones, emails, announcements), providing admin support to teachers (copying, laminating), secure filing or destruction of documents, and other admin tasks as required..

Student Requirements

Best suited to VCAL student undertaking relevant VET qualification.
This host is looking for friendly, outgoing candidates who can demonstrate initiative and are eager to participate. Resiliance is a an asset in this workplace, as some student behaviours can be challenging. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) would also be an advantage in this role.

Dress Requirements

Suitable for working in a school office environment. Long hair tied back, discreet jewellery, sun smart attire, etc. To be discussed at interview.

Special Transport Requirements

Venue is close to bus access, with links to trams and trains.

Travel Form will not be required for this placement.
