Do you want to learn a range of carpentry skills in a variety of settings? Then this is the placement for you! This employer builds pergolas, decks, carports, fences, new homes, renovations, extensions..... you name it! The majority of work is in the Cranbourne and southern region but there will potentially be work in any area of Melbourne. An SBAT may be available mid year for the student who shows motivation and a definite interest in carpentry as a profession.

Skills You Might Learn

You will be given an opportunity to develop skills in all areas of carpentry in this hands on experience. You will learn the importance of accurate measurement, keeping a clean work area, assisting the supervisor, understanding work expectations of punctuality and following instructions.

Typical Tasks & Duties

You will be given an opportunity to learn many skills associated with carpentry, developing skills in accurate measurement, sawing nailing, planning. You will develop your skills in safety awareness, use of hand and power tools and more!.When building and renovating you can learn how to install internal components of a building,such as, doors, counters, ceilings and windows.

Student Requirements

There will be a lot of heavy lifting and physical work such as digging. Please note - an SBAT or apprenticeship will be available to the right candidate.

Dress Requirements

You will need work boots, safety glasses, high vis vest, ear muffs, tape measure and pencil.

Special Transport Requirements

Transport options to be discussed with employer dependent on the site.
Employer is happy to meet or pick up if suitable

Some early starts will be required. Starting on site at 7.30 finishing 4.00
