Suburban Suburban Mechanical has been servicing Thomastown and surrounds for 25 years. The placement will provide an excellent understanding into the automotive industry with skills to be developed in this area.
Skills You Might Learn
The student will develop basic diagnostic skills and be able to identify tools. They may also use computer software with basic diagnostic tasks. Students will also learn a number of employability skills including presentation, working as part of a team, communication skills, customer service and after care follow up.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will be required to assist in the general upkeep of the work station including cleaning. Undertake basic mechanical, electrical auto service and repair tasks (under supervision). The student will also have the opportunity to learn workplace communication, safe work practices and how to be cooperative in a workplace team.
Students will be mature and prepared to go the extra mile. They will also need to show enthusiasm and an interest to learn new skills. They need to be focused and able to listen to instructions and follow through with instructions to complete a task. The student needs to be punctual and possess a good work ethic. Personal use of mobile phones in work time will not be tolerated.
Duties relating to mechanical work require long trousers and long sleeve tops. The workshop is a dirty environment and clothes will be affected. Safety boots must be worn.
