A great SWL opportunity for a construction student who is motivated and keen, to work with a small, successful construction company based in Emerald. This company works on all aspects of kitchen, bathroom, laundry and ensuite renovations. The placement will involve travelling with the employer to different locates and requires a starting time of 7am.

Skills You Might Learn

Students may have the chance to develop skills and understanding in many facets of the building trade: - workplace safety, basic cutting out, the use of hand tools, team work, tiling, installation of cabinets and hanging plasterboard.

Typical Tasks & Duties

The student will observe qualified trade person, be shown how to measure for plasterboard and cabinetry. Depending on the ability of the student they could assist with installing cabinets, water proofing wet areas, basic demolition and the use of hand tools.

Student Requirements

This placement requires a 7 am start and punctuality is important. Students should only undertake this SWL placement if they are keen and motivated. Both an SWL Arrangement form and a Travel form need to be signed for this placement. See also Dress Requirements for further information.

Dress Requirements

Students should ensure that they wear steel-capped work boots, High Vis top and work gear.
