Skills You Might Learn
Students will gain skills related to their Electrotechnology certificate. The electrician would be modelling a range of electrical tasks, in which the student will learn valuable skills related to this industry. Furthermore, students will also gain other valuable skills such as teamwork, problem solving, communication with team members and clients, as well as, time and task management.
Typical Tasks & Duties
The student who is placed with Freephase Electrical Services would be exposed to and be able to be a part of, a range of jobs undertaken in domestic households. Some of these would include Switchboard Upgrades, Mains Upgrades, RCD installation, RCD Testing, Power Point Installation, Lighting Installation, Smoke Detector Installation, Electric Heating and Hot Water Repairs, Electric Hot Plate and Oven Repairs, Data and Telephone Cabling. It would be the student’s role to support the electrician with these jobs, and complete pulling in wires, installation, manual handling and organising tools.
Students are required to be studying a certificate in Electrotechnology. You will need to have obtained your white card and completed your OH & S units. Students should also be willing to learn and work hard when on placement. It is essential that the student applying for this placement is passionate and dedicated to be in this industry as an Electrician, wanting to ask questions and learn as much he they can from the professionals they are around.
Students are required to have their own steel capped work boots and dress in work wear. Students must wear work pants such as durable Hard Yakka pants. A T-shirt is suitable.
Special Transport Requirements
The student will need to travel to the Electricians home and when arranged with the Electrician, the student may need to independently travel to a work site or meet him halfway via public transport. This will all be communicated with the business owner.
