The fully qualified childcare team will provide little ones with engaging, quality care in an interactive and secure environment. The facility has a range of games, toys and equipment to keep kids happy while parents exercise, with a large indoor play area.
Skills You Might Learn
In alignment with Cert III Early Childhood Education and Care studies, students may have the opportunity to develop skills in; - Providing care for children of various ages, stages of development and diverse backgrounds - Developing positive and respectful relationships - Providing experiences to support children’s play and learning - Participating in Workplace Health and Safety - Complying with administrative requirements Students will also be expected to comply with policies regarding communicating with parents, guardians, etc. Transferable skills which are vital in this workplace include communication, teamwork, time management, creative and critical thinking.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Student Tasks / Duties Placement students may have the opportunity to participate in a range of activities including; - Supervision of safe play activities - Maintaining centre cleanliness (including sweeping, mopping, wiping tables and benches, cleaning paint pots and brushes, etc.) - Reading stories - Assisting with various admin tasks. Some tasks will not be permitted (such as nappy changes). This will be discussed further at interview.
The crèche operates for 2.5 hours on Tuesday, Wednesday (from July) and Thursday so these are the only days available. Students will have the opportunity to perform other tasks during crèche closure including assisting with customer service and administration tasks.
Best suited to a VCAL or VCE student currently undertaking Cert III Early Childhood Education and Care. A warm and friendly personality is preferred, along with a strong desire to actively engage with children and work in this industry. NUT FREE ZONE – Students are welcome to bring their own snacks and lunch, however no Nuts or Nut products are permitted on site.
Dress Successful candidates will be provided with a shirt (on loan) and a badge identifying them as a placement student. They should wear clothes suitable for a childcare environment (sneakers, shorts / leggings / tracksuit pants in black).
Special Transport Requirements
Transport Venue is close to train access with Macleod station a short walk to the centre. No Travel Arrangement Form will be required as all placement hours will be completed on site
