Moonee Valley City Council Depot are excited to offer an opportunity for a young person to come join their team to learn about the carpentry and building and construction trade. MVCC are very supportive of students completing their studies and doing the SWL program and will offer a valuable opportunity for students to gain a range of skills and experience.
Skills You Might Learn
Students may, whilst under supervision, be learning the use of hand tools related to basic carpentry. The position will include activities around assisting the tradesmen and may specifically include cleaning up the site, using carpentry hand tools and performing basic carpentry tasks for building repairs and maintainance.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will have the opportunity to attain a broad range of skills while on work placement. These may include observing and learning from industry qualified and experienced professionals, working with tools and equipment necessary to the occupation, plus gaining valuable general employability skills such as; communication, teamwork, planning and organizing, problem solving and liaising and working with colleagues, customers/clients and suppliers.
Student Requirements
Students must have industry White Card and will be required to work the hours as outlined
Dress Requirements
Steel toe cap boots, general work clothing including fluoro top.
Special Transport Requirements
Public transport by either bus or tram is available. Bus will also connect from Train stations.
