This is an excellent placement opportunity for a student interested in painting as a career option. Quinns Painting & Decorating are a growing business operating across domestic, commercial and industrial areas with many business and government contracts. They are very keen to make available painting trades placements with excellent prospects of a future apprenticeship.

Skills You Might Learn

Tasks to be undertaken will be various and initially provided under instruction to build up the student skills and confidence. The worksites and activity will be varied and be arranged to provide the student with a wide range of experiences.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Student will learn be able to gain experience in all aspects of painting and decorating, across the areas of domestic, industrial and commercial. Activities will include surface predation, paint application, timber staining, site clean-ups and painting calculations. The student will be required to follow worksite procedures and assist with keeping a clean and tidy work area at all times The use of associated equipment will also be provided as appropriate.
The student will be assisting the painter with all aspects of the trade.

Student Requirements

Students will need to be hard working, honest, and resourceful, they need to show initiative and cope well under pressure. A positive attitude to the placement and potential employment opportunity the employer is providing will help the student.

Dress Requirements

Safety footwear, work pants, fluoro top, additional safety vest and other PPE will be supplied.
Students will need to have an OHS White Card.

Special Transport Requirements

The office / factory is located in Tullamarine (off Keilor Park Drive), it is accessible by bus, other workers come in from Diggers Rest, Romsey / Gisborne, student pick up may be a possibility.
