Interknit is Victoria’s last rural knitting mill. We design; manufacture and sell by wholesale, trade and retail from our single Ballarat location. Opportunities to learn machine operation and maintenance both knitting and sewing are available as well as garment preparation (steam press; packing) and basic warehousing (pick; pack; send). There is also a retail shop and busy administration office at the front of the factory. Students are encouraged to experience different areas of the factory and get a feel for the different roles available in modern manufacturing.

This opportunity is for one day per week. However the business may be open to negotiating a week block placement pattern.

Assisting in the day to day tasks of the business

Not every student will want to learn every facet of the business, if students have a particular liking of one area or are better suited to a particular set of skills they will be assigned to roles that suit the qualities they exhibit.

Dress Requirements

Closed in shoes are essential; clothes must not have large obvious branding or slogans on them as customers come through the factory; casual clothing is fine; for machine operation keep jewellery minimal and long hair tied back.

Special Transport Requirements

There is a bus stop located up the hill from the business.
