Aquazone

Aquazone is currently Warrnambool’s only aquatic leisure and recreation centre which provides indoor and outdoor heated pools for fitness and play, a large gymnasium, spin bike studio and fitness programs.
AquaZone – was developed on the site with the addition of indoor 25m, program and leisure pools; as well as fitness facilities, a crèche and new customer and staff amenities.

The South West community was very active in advocating and fundraising for the new facility.

Today, AquaZone is the major indoor community aquatic and leisure facility in South West Victoria. It provides equitable and affordable access to a wide range of aquatic and fitness activities.

Skills You Might Learn

Students on work placement will learn to organise and complete daily work activities, observe the development and update of fitness programs, assist in conducting fitness sessions, observe the coaching of beginner or novice participants in the development of fundamental fitness and motor skills, communicate effectively with those in the fitness and health environment and assist in the upkeep, cleaning and provision of equipment in the Pool and Gym.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students doing a placement in this environment will be learning about the sport and recreation industry in a general way. Under supervision they will be providing support in the provision of sport and recreation programs, machine, equipment and facility maintenance, routine housekeeping, pool supervision, retail and customer assistance and administrative assistance.

Student Requirements

Students wanting a placement at Snap Fitness must have a genuine interest in the health and well-being of people. They must have a positive attitude to every customer and their individual physical needs and have an understanding that all levels of ability are to be catered for within the gym. The student must present and speak well and always communicate in a happy helpful manner with the customers at the gym.

Dress Requirements

Tidy appropriate sports gear and footwear should be worn on placement.

Special Transport Requirements

Students will need to find their own transport too and from the placement
