A great opportunity is available with VC Traders Warragul for a student who is looking to develop their skills as a small engine mechanic. VC Traders sell a wide range of garden equipment, ride-on mowers, push mowers, power equipment, spare parts, oil and lubricants. The student will work in a fully equipped workshop along side qualified mechanics. They are dedicated to high quality customer service and efficiency with their sales and mechanical servicing.

Skills You Might Learn

The student will learn to communicate effectively in the work place both with co workers and customers. They will be exposed to all mechanical repairs required for lawn mowers, small engines, excavators, diggers and other large equipment. They will learn how to dismantle various parts and repair or replace the part. This experience will give a grounding in automotive repair and maintenance.

Typical Tasks & Duties

The student will learn to communicate effectively in a mechanical workplace, solve routine problems in an automotive workplace, dismantle and assemble new equipment and various machinery parts in the servicing and repair of chainsaws, motor mowers and power equipment. Students will also have the exposure to the retail side of ride-on mowers, push mowers, power equipment, garden tools, spare parts, oil and lubricants, clothing and accessories.

Student Requirements

The student needs to have an interest in lawnmowers, small and large engines. They need to show enthusiasm and an interest to learn new skills. they need to be focused and able to listen to instructions and follow through with instructions to complete a task. The student needs to be punctual and possess a good work ethic. Personal use of mobile phones in work time will not be tolerated.

Dress Requirements

Black pants and top is required to be presentable for the customers, but the mechanical work shop is a dirty environment and clothes will be affected. Safety boots must be worn

Special Transport Requirements

The student must organise their own transport to and from the placement
