A great opportunity for someone with an intelligent disability to learn more about nursery and garden products in a retail setting. Would ideally suit someone with an interest in plants also for customer service. Working in the nursery would require plant care, watering and restocking as well as customer interaction.

Skills You Might Learn

Skills to be attained include the identification of numerous trees, plants and flowers. Further to this, understanding of the characteristics, requirements and behaviour of plant life. Customer service skills, communication and team work will also be experiences and developed.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Typical duties include watering of plants, moving and re-stocking of plants and other products, face to face customer service and telephone inquiries. There is also the opportunity to learn about plant species and their characteristics and requirements.

Student Requirements

Students should have a keen interest in plants. Students should have some confidence in talking with customers and be able to follow instructions

Dress Requirements

Appropriate clothing for outdoor and nursery work to be worn including solid but comfortable footwear.
