This employer works mostly in domestic painting and includes interior and exterior work, wall paper installation and colour design. This position would suit a student who is keen to pursue a painting apprenticeship pathway.
Skills You Might Learn
Students who undertake this opportunity will be enhancing the skills and knowledge that they are learning in their VETiS program. This may include; OH&S specific skills, painting principles, use of painting and decorating hand tools, preparation and application, calculations for the trade, communication skills and working within a team.
Typical Tasks & Duties
The student will be assisting the painter with all aspects of the trade. This may include surface preparation (sanding, putty, gapping), paint application, timber staining, site clean-ups and painting calculations. The student will be required to follow worksite procedures and assist with keeping a clean and tidy work area at all times.
Student Requirements
Students must be keen to learn the painting and decorating trade, be punctual, willing to listen and learn, follow all worksite OHS and must have a CI Card.
Dress Requirements
Students must wear appropriate clothing, safety footwear, hat and sunscreen
Special Transport Requirements
Students must be able to get to various building sites where required
