This employer operates a professional and family friendly horse riding school and animal farm. From horse riding lessons, agistment, horse riding birthday parties, animal farm activities and various other hands-on activities students will need to be fit and interested in horses and farm animals. The host is very keen to assist student's to learn to handle a range of animals including horses, goats, sheep, donkeys, emu's, rabbits, snakes, lizards, ferrets, rats, chickens and ducks.
Skills You Might Learn
The student will learn how to communicate effectively with customers and staff, other skills include team work, task planning and basic animal care.
Typical Tasks & Duties
The student will learn how to work with a range of animals including horses and undertake general stablehand duties such as; washing bays, brushing and preparing animals for clients, general yard duties, cleaning pens, cleaning saddles & bridles, assisting with feeding and watering of stock etc.
Student Requirements
The student must be willing and keen to work with large animals (mainly horses) in a hands-on capacity and have a good understanding of OH&S for this industry. This can be a dirty job working in dusty and muddy yards and students must be prepared to work in these conditions.
Dress Requirements
Protective boots, long pants, plus warm/weather proof jackets for winter weather
