Students who undertake this opportunity will be enhancing the skills and knowledge that they are learning in their VETiS program. This may include; working with plumbing pipes, fittings & fixtures for installations, plumbing pipe systems, OH&S specific skills, hand and power tools, calculations for the plumbing trade, site preparation, communication skill and working within a team,
Typical Tasks & Duties
The student will be assisting the plumber with all aspects of the domestic plumbing trade. This may include setting out, laying of plumbing pipes and systems, manual labouring, use of hand and power tools (under supervision), site clean-ups and plumbing calculations. The student will be required to follow worksite procedures and assist with keeping a clean and tidy work area at all times.
Student Requirements
Students must be keen to learn the plumbing trade, be punctual, willing to listen and learn, able to do physical labouring, follow all worksite OHS and must have a CI Card. Prefer a Torquay based student as most of this employer's work is in that area.
Dress Requirements
Students must wear protective clothing (hi-vis), safety footwear (steel cap boots), ear and eye protection, hat and sunscreen and other PPE as required.
Special Transport Requirements
Students must be able to get to various building sites where required
