This local business provides landscaping, environmental design, garden restoration and maintenance services. On their team they have qualified horticulturists, experienced landscapers and trainers. This position will provide a student a great experience to learn all about various aspects of landscaping and gardening.
Skills You Might Learn
The student will gain an understanding of working within the gardening / landscaping industry with a particular focus on horticulture. Students can expect to attain skills in workplace safety, environmentally sustainable work practices, landscape construction and recognition of plants, trees, soil types and pests.
Typical Tasks & Duties
The student will be learning all aspects of the horticulture and landscaping industry. Duties may involve; general landscaping construction work, labouring, barrow work, pruning, planting out, operation of basic machinery and equipment, building of retaining walls, identification or trees, plants & shrubs and cleaning of worksite.
Student Requirements
The student must have an interest in horticulture and landscaping and a willingness to do hands-on physically demanding work.
Dress Requirements
Steel capped boots. PPE provided by the employer.
Special Transport Requirements
Must be able to get to various work sites
