This well known busy bakery in the Central Grampians region of Ararat is offering a student position of an all rounder who will be offered training to learn hospitality skills and also be given the opportunity to learn to cook and clean. The team at Waack's Bakery Ararat will work with the student and provide training in a variety of hospitality experiences and customer service relations. Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will assist trained staff in performing duties, students receiving high level supervision. Duties may include but not limited to customer service roles in the various sections of the store.
Students will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Fill and maintain presentation of stock.
- Stock or sell products.
- Help in the bakery or customer service when required.
- Making of hot and cold beverages.
- Ensure that the customers are served in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Provide services to meet a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Responsible for maintaining the standard in terms of sales and quality.
- Responsible for packaging, labelling and merchandising bakery products.
- Responsible for displaying products to ensure maximum impact, being aware of customer needs and behaviour.
- Provide services to meet a high level of customer satisfaction.
- General cleaning requirements.
Student Requirements
Students are encouraged to consider a SWL placement to develop skills learned from their VET course in Retail and or Hospitality.
The following requirements must be met;
- The student must have completed the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) module in Work Related Skills or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.
- Students are required to demonstrate a positive attitude towards Hospitality with a keen eye for detail, who are self-motivated, have a consistent and good work ethic, and are willing to listen and follow instructions.
-Students are encouraged to consider a SWL placement to develop skills learned from their VET subject in Hospitality and/or Retail.
- Student must be willing to spend periods of time observing and to undertake necessary tasks as requested.
- Dress appropriately.
- Maintain interest and participate in tasks and work duties.
- Be well mannered and behave in a respectful and responsible manner.
- Be punctual.
- Follow management instructions.
- Have good communication skills.
- Work within the team.
- Listen and take advice from fellow workers.
- Respect other people’s belongings.
- Keep a note pad and pen handy to take notes for their own reference.
- Demonstrate the skills they have developed through their course.
- Take their Workplace Learning Record or course assessments to the work placement every day.
Dress Requirements
Students are required to wear enclosed toe, non-slip shoes. Other dress requirements will be discussed with the student before commencement of the placement.
Special Transport Requirements
The student or the parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) is responsible for the student’s transport to and from the workplace. If it is proposed that the student may need to undertake vehicle travel with their employer and/or supervisor during the arrangement (including transporting the student to and/or from the workplace), the employer must complete the Structured Workplace Learning Travel and Accommodation Form. The student or the parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) must give their consent by also completing this form. If transport is presenting a problem, please contact CGLLEN to discuss available options and support that can be provided.
