Student opportunity for an SWL Placement as a Fitter with AGL Loy Yang Power Station.
Loy Yang comprise the 2,210 megawatt Loy Yang A power station and adjacent Loy Yang coal mine. AGL Loy Yang uses brown coal, supplied exclusively by the adjacent open cut mine, as the fuel source to generate electricity. The mine has an annual output of approximately 30 million tonnes of coal.

Skills You Might Learn

Students will work along side a qualified fitter assisting with a range of tasks and duties. Fitters are responsible for the maintenance, repair and manufacture of metal products and machinery.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will have a better understanding of the role of a Fitter and gain experience working in a large Power Station and working within a team environment. Fitters are responsible for the maintenance, repair and manufacture of metal products and machinery.

Student Requirements

Students must have a genuine interest in pursing a Trade, a good attention to detail and be reliable, punctual and committed.
Students must also complete the AGL Work Placement Application form (available from School Careers Teachers)

Dress Requirements

Long Sleeves and long pants, steel capped boots

Special Transport Requirements

Students must be able to organise their own transport to and from Loy Yang
