As well as the possibility to gain an apprenticeship at the end of your SWL placement. You will learn from qualified and experienced tradespeople about all aspects of the workshop. Skills You Might Learn

Students may have the opportunity to attain a broad range of skills while on work placement. These may include valuable general employability skills such as: - Communication - Teamwork - Problem solving - Initiative and enterprise - Planning and organising - Self-management - Learning - Technology Students may also attain vital industry specific skills which will relate to their studies such as: - Hands-on practical experience - Observing and learning from industry qualified and experienced professionals - Working in real-life scenarios and environments - Working with tools and equipment necessary to the occupation and business - Liaising and working with colleagues, bosses, customers/clients and suppliers.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will be required but not limited to; cutting stock material, basic marking out of components, basic fabrication and basic MC machinery operations. Students will also learn lots about safety in regards to machinery and general safety in the workshop.

Student Requirements

Students are required to be studying Engineering as part of their VET course. Be interested in gaining an apprenticeship after their SWL placement and have a positive attitude toward learning and working.

Dress Requirements

Sturdy work clothes are to be worn and safety boots are also required to be worn at all times
