Typical Tasks & Duties

The student may be required to assist teaching staff to create, set-up, run and pack-up classroom activities. The student will observe and spend time under the direct supervision of experienced and qualified Education Teacher assisting with general tasks and duties in the day to day work activities. You may provide support to students under teacher supervision while practicing and embracing the school's values. You may be required to supervise students outside of the classroom on the playground, during bathroom breaks, at lunch time and on field trips. You may also be required to undertake general administration duties.

The student may undertake the following tasks;
• Organise and complete daily work activities.
• Provide first aid.
• Participate in workplace health and safety.
• Assist with activity sessions.
• Provide quality service.
• Respond to emergency situations.
• Work effectively in sport, fitness and recreation environments.
• Maintain sport, fitness and recreation industry knowledge.
• Provide equipment for activities.
• Maintain equipment for activities.
• Maintain sport, fitness and recreation facilities.
• Provide first point of contact.
• Use digital technology for routine workplace tasks.

Student Requirements

Students with a positive attitude towards Education and Teaching as an Teacher Aide Assistant with a keen eye for detail and are self-motivated, willing to listen and follow instruction are encouraged to consider a future WE Opportunity to develop skills learned from their study program.

Whilst the students is attending the work placement they are expected to:
• Dress appropriately.
• Maintain interest and participate in tasks and work duties.
• Be well mannered and behave in a respectful and responsible manner.
• Be punctual.
• Follow management instructions.
• Act in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
• Work within the team.
• Listen and take advice from fellow workers.
• Respect other people’s belongings.
• Keep a note pad and pen handy to take notes for their own reference.
• Demonstrate the skills they have developed through their course.
• Take their Log Book to the work placement every day.

Important Note: the student must adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and be respectful at all times.

Dress Requirements

The student must be well presented and is required to wear clothing as follows;
- Flat, non-slip, enclosed shoes as work shoes.
- Clothes to be neat, professional clothes to be worn as if you were going to work.
- Denim, leggings, torn clothing and inappropriate slogans are not acceptable.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the tasks and duties carried out by the student, will be supplied by the Host Employer.

Special Transport Requirements

Public Transport is limited, students to check bus transport availability and or speak to parents/carer to organise transport prior to contacting employer.
