OPPORTUNITY AT YOUR DOORSTEP building luxury houseboats!!!

Boilermakers fabricate, alter and repair metal products and structures using a range of techniques. Working in a variety of settings from small workshops to large sites, the majority of learning for an apprentice boilermaker is hands-on and practical.
The Eildon Houseboat Industry is looking to take on local young people. You will need to complete an SWL placement before you apply for this position, this is a great opportunity for you to progress into an SBAT or full-time work. All you have to do is be a person who is willing to work hard and show initiative.

Skills You Might Learn

Boilermaker- metal fabricating.
You will learn valuable skills in welding which could take your career anywhere in the world. Boilermakers are in demand!
Gain your pre-apprenticeship
Mechanical skills such as welding
Learn how to construct the hull of the houseboat and erect steel frames.
Cut and bend steel to designed shape and size
Critical thinking - Boilermakers must weigh various solutions to problems and then predict which one will be most effective.

Typical Tasks & Duties

The successful applicant will learn the following:
How to fabricate and work with steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
How to read drawings
How to use machinery such as Guillotine, Cropper and Press Brake.
How to weld with steel, aluminium and Stainless Steel.
How to install structural steel and other metalwork.
How to use Scissor lifts, Boom lifts & Forklifts
How to become a valued member of a small team

Student Requirements

A strong interest in a career in welding or engineering.
Ask questions, always follow WHS precautions and be ready to show up with a positive attitude every day.
Be energetic and hardworking.
Have the desire to learn and advance yourself.
Be willing to work regular overtime.
Have an understanding or passion for metalworking.
