Working with a variety of different aged children you will observe classroom teaching, student supervision, planning and organisation. You will undertake a range of activities that will contribute to developing your skills and knowledge in childhood education and care. These skills will include valuable general employability skills such as:

Typical Tasks & Duties

Assisting the classroom teacher, you may work with children in small groups or one on one within the classroom setting and undertake a broad range or duties including:
• reinforcing instruction to students
• going over lesson plans
• answering questions and providing experiences to support children’s play and learning
• assist with set up, delivery and pack up of activities and programs (both in/outdoors)
• reading to and listening to children reading
• supervising students outside of the classroom on the playground, during bathroom breaks, at lunch time and on field trips
• investigating procedures for allergy management and dealing with problem behaviours
• when class is not in session, you may assist by entering grades or typing up class summaries

Student Requirements

This school is looking for mature, responsible, energetic and motivated students who are studying education related subjects (and be comfortable in a classroom environment).

Dress Requirements

Students must be well presented, wear comfortable covered in shoes and have hair tied back if longer than shoulder length.
