Since 1872 this community minded, not for profit membership organisation has been delivering a wide range of pharmacy and health related products and services to over 11,500 household members throughout the Greater Bendigo Region.

The group consists of five Pharmacies, an Optical Store and a Day Spa which offers a range of benefits including discounts on products, access to health professionals, subsidised services, modern, contemporary and convenient retail facilities.

This Optometry placement will provide students with broader understanding of what an optometrist's and optical assistant’s role involves on a day-to-day basis.

This placement is for Tuesday - Thursday only.

• Familiarity with eyecare and eyewear solutions
• Exposure to administration and customer service activities in a professional environment
• Working in real-life scenarios and environments
• Working with tools and equipment necessary to the occupation and business

Typical Tasks & Duties

During your placement, you may undertake the following:
• All aspects of customer service
• Sitting in and observing some eye consultations with optometrist
• Welcome clients and converse in a friendly, customer service manner
• General cleaning, filing and set up and pack away tasks
• Prepare equipment and restock products

Student Requirements

Students should be interested in customer service, have a genuine interest in helping people, be responsible, have good interpersonal skills and a level of maturity.
Personal mobile phones are not required and should only be used out of work hours or on offsite meal breaks.

Dress Requirements

Wear neat casual attire e.g., long pants or skirt, top with sleeves and comfortable closed in shoes. If hair is longer than shoulder length it must be tied back.
