The skills you attain in this placement will depend on your level of interest, VET course undertaken and effort. You might gain skills in the following; initiative, problem solving, communication, following instructions and teamwork. You may learn some industry specific skills, but remember to become a skilled hairdresser, you will need to complete formal training.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students offered work experience at this placement will be asked to assist with cleaning and maintaining the salon. This will include sweeping floors, emptying bins, cleaning mirrors and windows and the hair cutting chair. Students will be shown various processes including foils and how to do a fade.
Student Requirements
Students applying for work experience at Casual Cuts need to have a genuine interest in hairdressing. You will need to be polite and respectful towards customers and willing to follow the instructions given by your supervisor. You will need to leave your mobile phone in the tearoom and ask questions of your supervisor at appropriate times to avoid unsettling customers.
Dress Requirements
Dress requirements involve wearing all black – shirt and pants. Do not wear active wear or singlets. Shoes must be comfortable and enclosed keeping in mind you will be on your feet for most of the day.

Students need to make their own transport arrangements to this workplace.
