Frankston Visitor Information Centre - Wednesday Placement
If you are serious about a career in tourism, this placement is the ideal destination!
Working at the Frankston Visitor Information Centre - located at the Frankston Waterfront, you will be at the very heart of it all! The centre provides face-to-face local advice and recommendations.
As well as a huge selection of maps, brochures and local information to help you discover more of Frankston City, the Mornington Peninsula and surrounding regions, the Centre also has a great range of souvenirs and locally made products.

Typical Tasks & Duties
During your placement, you may undertake some of the following:
- Learn processes for greeting clients, customers and visitors.
- Learn about answering phone calls, transfer calls and take messages
- Become more informed about local and regional tourist information
- Become more aware about booking procedures for and costs of events, activities, festivals and general tourist venues and events.
- Be involved in the display of information and local and regional goods for that are for sale
- Learn about procedures for completing forms and paperwork
- Learn business filing system
- Identify OH&S policies and procedures in the workplace.
- Clean and tidy work areas
- Communication with staff and management
Student Requirements
Students are to be studying Tourism and have a genuine interest in entering the industry. Strong communication skills are a must as you will be talking to visitors to the centre.
ONLY STUDENTS WHO ARE RESIDENTS OR ATTEND A SCHOOL IN THE FRANKSTON CITY COUNCIL AREA ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PLACEMENT
