Able Cabinets

This is a fantastic opportunity for a student who is very interested in getting an apprenticeship.
You will learn a highly skilled trade with a small professional company providing domestic and architectural joinery. Able Cabinets make a variety of domestic and commercial fittings including kitchen cabinets, vanities, laundries and wardrobes. The majority of the work will be domestic, but some commercial work including childcare centres, schools and colleges will be included.

Skills You Might Learn

Practical and hands on opportunities to learn how to use the edge bander, a variety of sanders including an orbital sander, nail gun, a variety of glues and other products. Keeping a clean workshop, working as part of a team and understanding work expectations of punctuality and signing in to work will also be learnt.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will be making drawers, assisting tradesmen, sanding, capping, shelving, cleaning, some fitting removal and unloading of equipment. The majority of work will be on site but students will go to domestic and commercial sites for fit outs.

Student Requirements

It will be important to be punctual. Flexibility will be required to get to different work sites. Please check with employer regarding any COVID safe practices and immunisation requirements before starting placement.

Dress Requirements

Standard Personal protective equipment is required including steel cap boots, hearing protection and fluro vest. Able cabinets will provide safety glasses.

Special Transport Requirements

Supervisors are able to make arrangements to pick up from arranged meeting points, such as a train station, on the way to work that is off site. The 901 bus from Dandenong to Monterey Road bus stop is the closest public transport to ELLIOTT ROAD.
