LIBRARIAN.

The Mornington Peninsula libraries offer a wide range of activities and services for the community. Some of the activities they may offer include: 1. Storytime sessions for children, where they can listen to stories and participate in interactive activities. 2. Book clubs for adults and teenagers to discuss and explore different genres of literature. 3. Workshops and classes on topics such as technology, arts and crafts, health and wellness, and more. 4. Author talks and book signings, where local and visiting authors share their work and engage with readers. 5. Movie screenings and film discussions for film enthusiasts. 6. Community events and exhibitions that showcase local talent and creativity.

Skills You Might Learn

During your placement, you may undertake the following:

- Answering a phone, transferring calls and taking a messages
- Filling out sample forms ie: timesheets, leave forms and order forms etc
- Produce simple word processed documents and spreadsheets
- Take minutes of a meeting, type and distribute to staff
- Learn business filing system
- Identify OH&S policies and procedures in the workplace.
- Assist with tea and coffee preparation etc for catered functions and meetings
- Attend meetings
- Clean and tidy work areas
- Assist other staff with a variety of projects.

Students may have the opportunity to attain a broad range of skills while on work placement. These will include valuable general employability skills such as:

Student Requirements

Some employers have specific requirements relating to student placements. These may include sending in a resume, sighting a current Working with Children Check (WWC), gaining parental permission for the student to travel with employer or attending an OH&S induction prior to commencing a placement.
Please contact the employer at least two weeks prior to the placement start date to see if there are any additional requirements.
