Skills You Might Learn
Accurate use of tape measures, reading and understanding fabrication sheet, its importance and need for accuracy, evaluate timber, basic carpentry skills. Use of power tools will be dependent on age and ability. You will learn how to work well in a team, understand OH&S practices and compliance.
Typical Tasks & Duties
You will learn all aspects of timber to be used for construction from an experienced builder. You will also learn about different types, grades, size of timber, using computerized saws and power tools (depending on age and ability) accurately using a tape measure!
Student Requirements
A willingness to learn, work as part of a team and have a good attitude. Students will be required to sign relevant documentation regarding company policiies to cover the company regulations and requirements. Please check with employer regarding any COVID safe practices and immunisation requirements before starting placement.
Dress Requirements
Steel capped boots, clothing suitable for factory work, high visibility shirt and jumper. Ear and eye protection will be supplied. No baggy clothing. Long hair is to be kept up.
